Student Groups

Welcome Students!

A special welcome for students, from Simon Pedley (assistant minister/student worker) and the student team!  Here’s a snapshot of what’s planned this year for students at Christ Church Mayfair.  We’d love to hear from you, whether you’re a regular or a newbie – drop an email to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

Join us on Sundays

Students make up about 20% of our church family, and there are loads of recent graduates, so you’ll find us a very friendly church for university and college students in London. Our evening meeting (6.30pm) is a relaxed gathering of 200+ people, including many young adults, and we aim to provide solid Bible teaching, great songs, vital prayer, deep friendships, and motivation for mission.  The morning meeting (10.15am) aims for the same things, but with a smaller bunch of people from a wider range of ages.

THE STUDENT ZONE meets on Sundays during term, upstairs in church after the 6:30pm meeting.  It’s the place where a large church becomes small! There’s food, drink, and a great informal chance to catch up and meet other students.

Student Knowing God

Keep your Tuesday nights free, because SKG is our Student Knowing God night.  We get together in church at 6 for 6.30pm. There’s a talk, an open question time, some tasty supper, small-group Bible studies, and then a chance to chill out over tea/coffee and pudding. The atmosphere is relaxed, a questioning mindset is encouraged, and the fellowship is deep.  And (new for 2011) the table football is just upstairs!

SKG begins on 11th October 2011

Impact @ Imperial

Some of our students are studying at Imperial College, where we are invited to run the weekly lunchtime outreach talks, called Impact @ Imperial. The talk is for both Christians and those who are unconvinced. For more information, .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

One-to-one Study and Prayer Triplets

Many of our students meet up regularly for 1-to-1 Bible study and prayer with an older Christian brother or sister. It’s a great way to grow in your faith, so we encourage it and can help set one up for you.
Prayer triplets are also something many of our students have found to be brilliant: you meet regularly with a couple of close mates, talking openly about joys and struggles, praying through them together and encouraging each other to keep trusting and following Jesus.
Why do these time-consuming (and often challenging) things?  It’s because we long to grow in our love for Jesus our King, and to develop our ability to use Spirit-given gifts to serve him and serve his people. So we long to see each of us growing in understanding the Bible for ourselves, growing in prayer, and growing in enjoyment of the relationship with God that Jesus died to purchase. As Jesus himself said: “this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God.”
