Study Bibles

Do you ever find yourself reading the Bible and asking lots of questions? 'Where have I heard that before?', 'Is he any relation to so and so?', 'What is the book of Ezra all about?'

We should rightly pray “Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.” (Ps. 119:18) as we ask for the Spirit's help when we come to read our Bibles. But I often find it helpful to use a study Bible also, which includes notes on the author, purpose, themes of a book, maps, historical context and much more. I would highly recommend the ESV Study Bible or the NIV Study Bible.

They cost a bit more than a normal Bible but well worth putting it on the Christmas list, great investment! If I haven't persuaded you, this man might?
