Why we love… Prayer meetings

The first Wednesday of every month is our prayer meeting in church. Do you love them? We do. Last night, Nathan reminded us why:

  1. Prayer changes the world. "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us" (1 John 5:14). Is there a country, economy, church, family or person where God wills things to be different? We can pray!
  2. The other option is anxiety. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (Philippians 4:6). Anything that makes us anxious, God wants to hear about it.
  3. We hear family news. As we pray, we will hear more about what is going on in the church than we have time to say on a Sunday. Hear about God's work and ours at Christ Church, through Co-Mission and with our mission partners around the world. We challenge you not to be encouraged!

Practically, we meet in church at 7:15 for food and 7:45 to pray. It's not scary! We're in little clusters of 8 people, and we'll be given some points, pray through them for 5-10 minutes and then hear some more. There are no penalties for not praying out loud.

Prayer meetings. We love them, and we're sure you will too!
